What is Royal Jelly?
Royal jelly is a natural bee product secreted from the pharyngeal glands of worker bees and used to feed the baby bees and the queen bee in the hive. Royal jelly contains important minerals such as B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6), zinc, magnesium and iron. In addition, it contains the components of royalactin, a natural protein not found in any other foodstuff, and 10-HDA, a natural organic acid.
How to Consume Royal Jelly?
Children can consume fresh royal jelly directly, sublingually on an empty stomach, as ¼ teaspoon per day, while adults can consume ½ teaspoon directly, sublingually on an empty stomach. Or they can use 1 teaspoon of propolis-royal jelly-raw honey mixtures per day, either directly or by adding them to warm or cold foods such as yogurt and milk.
How is Royal Jelly Produced?
The royal jelly production is as follows: A queen bee is taken from a hive and 1-2 combs with eggs and 1-day-old larvae taken from other hives are given to this hive every day. In this way, the production of queen bee cells is encouraged by the worker bees. After this process is applied, the highest yield is obtained from cells with 3-day-old queen bee larvae. The royal jelly formed in these cells in the combs is taken with special wooden spoons. With this production technique, this process continues in the hive for 20-30 days. Then, a queen bee is given to the hive and the colony returns to its former state. With this natural production method, approximately 20-25 grams of royal jelly is obtained from a hive.

While the worker bee has an average lifespan of 45 days, the queen bee can live an average of 5 to 7 years.
