NAKKAŞ BOYTU
From Tradition to the Future…
about us
As Nakkaş Dimension; two-dimensional writing and drawing arts of our traditional culture,
We interpret and produce in three dimensions.
In this process, traditional arts; Not just their lines or patterns, techniques or definitions;
We try to add its spirit and stories.
We embarked on this path in 1997 with the excitement of being able to convey traditional ideas and culture to future generations in a new form.
We are moving forward with the goal of moving the inner dimension of our tradition to three dimensions.
What is BOYTU?
Size; It is the third dimension of Turkish Islamic arts.
It is a dimension that should be evaluated within the scope of Traditional Arts and is still building its own field.
Just as line means line, SIZE means dimensioning.
Boytu also has an additional name: "BOYTU MÜCERRET". Mücerret means abstract. Its size is abstract; dimensional version of the abstract.
Why SIZE?
We introduced the first example in 2004 and reached this dimension that we cannot name.
-Although we did not like it- it was called a trinket in the conditions of that day.
If today; We are trying to compensate for the discomfort we feel with this naming that does not express what belongs to us.
Table, shelf etc. The name "trinket" is used as the term used to describe ornaments made of different materials placed on them.
Our designs; Although it seems close to the trinket designation in terms of form, it is not.
Our business; with an important part of our cultural and artistic heritage.
Our designs; It is not just a trinket, it is a continuation of our culture beyond being a mere ornament or souvenir.
In addition to these reasons, there is also the language aspect. Biblo is a word that came into our language from French...
However, while we are preparing our designs; It is nourished by our tradition's own language and literature,
We are inspired by our own faith, science and philosophy. While we build our designs,
What builds us are the customs, traditions and manners of our own culture.
In short…
Not just for using Turkish words against foreign words; trinket, gift, souvenir,
While trying to produce a value beyond the perception brought by words such as statue and figurine,
BOYTU so that our core values and the expressions we use are the same.
Many phrases, expressions and words that have lived as lines for centuries are now embodied with the interpretation of Nakkaş Boytu.
Every classic line turns into tangible values.
Tradition; While shedding light on humanity for centuries,
As Nakkaş Boytu, we are excited about "adding a new dimension to the tradition".
As "Nakkaş Dekor", we started our journey by saying "It should be rooted in tradition and grow into the future".
As "Nakkaş Boytu", we continue to produce.
